SHEEPVENTION
4 & 5 August 2008
Sheepvention, held annually on the first Monday
and Tuesday of August, has since its inception in 1979, grown
into one of the biggest and prestigious rural events in Australia.
The Site
The site of Sheepvention is the Hamilton Showgrounds, Horner
Street, Hamilton. Hamilton is 290
kilometres from Melbourne and 597 kilometres from Adelaide.

A unique
combination of events:
· A large Sheep Show with some 200 exhibitors displaying
over 1000 sheep.
· The largest multi-vendor Merino Ram Sale in Australia
using a unique Pen of Five selling system.
In 2006, 341 rams sold to $12,000 and grossed $552,300.
· A large trade, and craft display of over 500 sites
offering the latest farming equipment and
technology together with over 100 speciality craft and clothing
businesses represented.
· Many people attend Sheepvention each year specifically
to purchase from the wide range of quality clothes and garments
offered.

· As well as the Victorian
Farm Dog Championships, Alpaca Show and Ewe Weaner competition
there is the largest and one of the longest running Inventions
competitions in Australia which attracts over fifty entries
each year.
· The Wool Fashion Parade is a professionally produced
Fashion Show featuring top Melbourne models parading the latest
in wool fashions.
· Over 500 people attend each of the eight parades
held over
the two days of Sheepvention.
