Australasian Young Designers Wool Awards
Sheepvention introduced the Australasian Young Designers Wool Award in 1991.
This exciting new competition is a wonderful opportunity for
young designers to showcase their designs in wool to the public
and win a prestigious award and prize.

The aim of the competition is to encourage young designers
and artists to create garments using wool
Support
The Young Designer Awards is being closely supported by the
fashion schools, as well as secondary schools.
The support from major sponsor Ace Radio 3HA will ensure that the Australasian Young Designer Wool Awards
will develop into a major event.
Further strong support is given by Elders ERA Nurseries, New England Wool and The Merino Company. |

Prizes:
The Major Award for 2009 is the Handbury trophy plus a chance
to attend a two week residential summer (July) course in Fashion
Design at the Istituto
Marangoni, Milan, one of Europe's most famous Fashion
schools.
The estimated value of this award is $10,500.00 and is selected
from the six Class Winners.

Category prizes:
Cash and/or Fabric to the value of
1st $500,
2nd $200,
3rd $100
Categories for the competition are:
1. Daywear
2. Evening Wear / Formal
3. Fantasy / Theatrical
/ Avant-garde
4. Knitwear
5. Menswear
6.Streetwear / Sportswear
All entries must be original design and have at least 60%
wool.
There will be an award for best secondary school design entered in any category

Judging
Entry forms must be received by Friday 25th June 2010 2009, and garments must be in Hamilton by 5pm Thursday 15th July 2010
Awards will be presented at the Sheepvention Gala Fashion
Parade, Sunday 1st August
Drinks at 5.00 p.m. and Awards at 5.45 p.m.
Parade of Garments
The winners and a range of selected garments (see conditions of entry) will be paraded by professional models during the gala
parade and in the parade conducted over the two days of Sheepvention.
Awards will be given for excellence in creative design, colour
and quality craftsmanship
Selected entries not paraded will be on powerpoint display throughout
Sheepvention.
